From tech to spying to potential involvement in world wars, relations between the United States and China are tense at best. It started when a Chinese balloon floated over the entirety of the US, delaying an important bilateral meaning with China. President Joe Biden has also signed a bill forcing the sale of the Chinese social media company TikTok. This comes as Biden is also implementing tariffs and sanctions against China to slow its access to technology such as semiconductors. During Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s latest meeting in Beijing, Chinese President Xi Jinping said Washington needs to look at China’s development “in a positive light” in order for bilateral relations to improve. At the height of tensions are opposing views on wars in the Middle East.
